The goal behind a facelift is to create a youthful and more attractive appearance, not to produce highly visible scars. However, as a surgical procedure, scarring with a facelift is inevitable. What is not inevitable is how apparent those scars are.
Phoenix facelift surgeon Dr. John Corey takes every care to place incisions in the least conspicuous locations. Facelift incisions are most often placed behind the ears and just above the hairline. A small incision underneath the chin will be necessary if you are having a neck lift as well. The scars associated with these incisions should fade and become virtually unnoticeable within a few short months.
The best way to minimize the visibility of scars is to closely follow all of Dr. Corey’s post-operative advice. In addition to keeping incisions clean, you will need to avoid activities that can strain or cause trauma to the surgical area. All of this will be covered with you during your facelift consultation.
We want you to be happy with your results. Dr. Corey will discuss how to care for your incisions during the recovery period along with ways you can reduce scars after the incisions have healed to help ensure fantastic looking results.
