Breast Implant Size and Cup Size

Unfortunately, breast implants do not come in cup sizes. You cannot come into our Scottsdale plastic surgery office and ask Dr. Corey for D cup breast implants.

There are several reasons why measuring breast implants by cup sizes is not practical:

  • The same sized breast implant placed in two different women may yield two different cup sizes based on each woman’s original breast size
  • Cup sizes are often not consistent between bra manufacturers, causing you to require different cup sizes based on the bra brand

In order to avoid confusion, breast implant sizes are measured in cubic centimeters (cc’s). One study determined that approximately 189 cc will increase your breasts a full cup size.

When determining the ideal breast implant size for you, Dr. Corey will evaluate a variety of factors including your:

  • Aesthetic goals
  • Body type including height, weight, chest shape, and ribcage size
  • Existing breast volume
  • Breast tissue type (thin, fatty, tuberous, fibrous)
  • Lifestyle

Dr. Corey will then recommend the ideal breast size, measured in cc’s, to achieve your goals. Keep in mind that the most natural looking results will be achieved by choosing a breast implant size that is proportional to your body. A woman with a very petite frame may achieve better breast augmentation results with a more modestly sized implant.

Please contact Dr. John Corey today to schedule your initial breast augmentation consultation. We serve patients in Scottsdale and Phoenix, Arizona.
